As a prospective homeowner looking to find the perfect property in Arizona, you have many options. While independent homes still find takers, more people are interested in planned communities, which are almost a norm in places in Phoenix and Flagstaff. Many of these planned communities are managed by a Homeowners Association (HOA), which compromises of members who are residents. More often than not, these communities are managed by flagstaff hoa management services, which further enhance the experience of living. The question is whether you should consider an HOA-managed property. In this post, we are discussing the pros and cons in detail.

    The pros

    • Properties that are a part of planned communities and managed by HOAs tend to have a steady increase in demand and fetch a better sale price. If you are investing in a home with the intention of selling it at some point, this could be a wise decision.
    • HOAs are responsible for the management and maintenance of the community. As a resident, you would get the benefits available to other residents. There is no need to worry about things like waste management or upkeep of yards and walking gardens.
    • You can also avoid conflicts. Residents of an HOA are expected to work together to resolve issues. If you are at loggerheads with your neighbor, it doesn’t have to be a personal fight. You can take the matter to the HOA, and they will consider the governing documents and make a decision accordingly.

    The cons

    • If you are buying a home in a community governed by an HOA, you have to be a member and pay the required fee each month. In other words, you don’t have the choice of not joining.
    • Not all HOAs are managed as professionally as you would expect. If you are reviewing your options, consider whether the community has hired a professional HOA management service, which can certainly enhance the quality of life of residents,

    Final word

HOAs offer more benefits to residents than most home buyers think, but at the same time, you are expected to keep up with the norms and remain compliant with the rules. If you are scouting homes in Arizona, check how efficiently the common areas of a community are maintained and whether you agree on the governing documents.

You can also talk to a few fellow residents and discuss all your relevant concerns. Also, check the reputation of HOA management companies that are responsible for the shortlisted properties and communities.
